American Sports Cars

America, specifically the USA, has always been associated with sports cars. Renowned for putting large, powerful engines into relatively light bodies, the Americans were able to get excellent straight line performance, arguably at the expense of handling and ride.
However, increasing pressure from European and Japanese imports combined with the global footprint of the major American car manufacturers, has resulted in improvements in all areas.
Dominated by global giants Ford and General Motors ( who have multiple brands around he world ), there are also a number of smaller players to keep the big guys honest.
